Earlier this month, we headed to Berlin on a trip that later included Israel and Greece for a total of close to 6 weeks, to visit my close friend and wellness travel experience partner, Rivka, and see her home country together. As this was my second time in this cool, quiet, and unique city, I’ve finally put together a travel map of all the great spots to check out, where to dine, and also grab a great cup of coffee.
During my last two trips to this diverse city, we ended up enjoying many delicious spots and parts of the experience, so I wanted to share them. If you want to pull up the travel map on Google directly, you can also see it all right here!

Accommodations
Prenzlauerberg Neighbourhood | As I stayed with my friend both times in Berlin, I don’t have any suggested accommodations where I stayed myself. There are plenty of nice airbnbs available, though, in the Prenzlauerberg neighbourhood, which I really enjoyed. It was very close to Mitte with all it’s sites, Alexanderplatz, and also transit was convenient to anywhere we wanted to go. It was also filled with a ton of great restaurants, cafes, shops, and bars that you could stumble to from anywhere within the area. |
Sites & Activities
Alternative Berlin Tours | There is a free walking tour that leaves from Alexanderplatz – just walk up and you’ll get setup with a group. The guides operate on tips, and are very knowledgeable hosts of the city. Our guide was excellent – I would bet he is actually heavily involved in Berlin’s street art scene – not only based on his expertise on the subject. You’ll spend a few hours walking around the city in unique areas, learning multiple neighbourhoods, history, and on the Ubon. We ended up at a cool spot along the river for drinks and food – from here you can continue on socializing with the group. |
Berlin Cathedral Church | Also known as the Berliner Dom, the Cathedral is located in an area filled with museums of all kinds. |
Brandenburg Gate | During my first visit to Berlin, we visited this historic gate during the annual Light Festival, where artists displayed their creations against various monuments and sites around the city. |
East Side Gallery | A must-see when in Berlin, the East Side Gallery showcases one section of the Wall, with many well-known art pieces. This is also located along the Spree River, and is about 1.5 km long. |
German Museum of Technology | A very large and cool museum, we actually didn’t even explore it to it’s fullest. Spending the afternoon there, we didn’t realize we were in the building that only housed the smaller portion of the collection (cars and technology through the ages), and then moved over to the main building for our last half an hour, where you could see all the boats and airplanes in their massive glory displayed. |
Reichstag Building | The location of the German parliament, which was burned down on February 27, 1933 and then restored. It is still in use today. The roof terrace and dome can be visited by the public, and offers views of the parliamentary and government district and Berlin’s sights. |
Wochenmarkt Kollwitzplatz | The Saturday market on Kollwitzplatz offers a large array of vendors selling their wares, from delicious food, candy, flowers, jewelry, coffee, and more. Stop by for a lunch time currywurst and chips with a glass of wine or German beer while shopping for fresh produce. |
Victory Column – Angel of Peace | Climb the column to see a 360 degree view of Berlin. There is a park surrounding the column where you can take a break between sites. |
As I continue to jog my memory of more of my favourite spots from the city, I’ll add to this list. There are many more places I really enjoyed, so if you’re heading to the city and have any questions, feel free to reach out!
