Being Human Morning Thoughts

Self-Love, Self-Worth and Our Values

I’ve been having so many conversations with people lately that are about the topic of self-love, worthiness, valuing ourselves and seeing that we are our own treasures.

And one wise dear soul connection of mine put it in a really clear and simple way:

“I don’t need to achieve something to be whoever I want to be, it’s the opposite – I can be whoever I want right now, and then I can achieve everything I want.”

Now isn’t that the truth.

So many of the souls around me are entrepreneurs and visionaries, who’ve spent their lives building something, or creating and innovating in ways that would best support themselves when they couldn’t find something that already exists. Much of this drive comes down to the core of feeling seen, loved, heard, and valued – and connecting with other humans who understand them, so they don’t feel lonely in their own thoughts and existence.

While we create our own realities, it can be challenging to see that we already belong no matter where we are, can find a home within, and have all that we need inside of us. We don’t need to seek externally, although this is also part of the fun of this human existence, in exploring what else is possible and observing from the happenings in and around us.

And I feel the same way about myself – I’ve been everything from a millionaire, to someone who doesn’t have anything materially, what would be considered status quo wealth, and everything in between, at times in a very short time frame. Yet I understand now that the treasure we seek is already within and have even bumped my head against a Thai decoration above me at lunch recently that showed me that was the case (the Thai word for money was written on it).

And I still want to live, play, and create. And know that all of the best creations come straight from the heart, from the essence of what makes us who we are, and the energy that we radiate within ourselves and to others, whether the cup runneth over or it’s been leaking and depleted to its very core.

Now, I have more and more clarity and energy around what I want to create and how I want to support both myself and others. With spaciousness, ease and grace, and the ability to flow with those who resonate with my message. And to recognize that when there is so much more inside of me to give, instead of dulling it down, I’m meant to radiate that light outwards, to share it with others who would love to take some of it on and share in my joys and bliss.

In the past, I’ve downplayed this, kept quiet, hid and observed, when we’re meant to be generous with it and give it away, and not tuck it away and bring it back down by taking on any distractions that cause ourselves more harm than good – via emotionally eating, spending money on things we don’t really want or need beyond immediate gratification, or surrounding ourselves with other energy drains that take us back down to a place where we are not our most radiant selves.

And what I’m learning more and more is how to expand into that energy and use it for the greater good once I’ve nourished myself first. Surprisingly, this is often a greater challenge for me. Do I feel worthy of being rich and wealthy? Am I really meant to be here to experience earth-shattering love and goodness and bliss in as many of my experiences as possible, in life itself, surrounded by those whom I cherish and adore and would do anything to ensure that they have everything that they also want and need?

And one way I’m learning how to do this is to share in my space, my creations, my energy and joy, my ability to transmute darkness into light, my conversations to understand and process information and experiences in our day to day. And this can be anywhere – on the beach volleyball court, walking along the green belt, swimming in the ocean, or watching a sunset and sharing it with someone I love. Caring for my nephews, opening up my home (of any given moment), or exposing the parts of myself that I feel are too private and personal and vulnerable, as long as it’s with someone who is able to hold it with me. And if not with someone I’m connected to in person or remotely, but through words on a page, videos on my phone, or through my morning pages and voice notes, what I call “personal podcasts,” that I leave for people I love dearly and vice versa. Sharing in our joys and our losses, our highs and our lows, our abilities to heal and be healed.

We are truly interconnected and interdependent, with our families, friends, and every single atom within the universe, since we carry the whole universe inside of each of us.

And for this, I now understand deeply, how taking care of and loving ourselves first and foremost is what will create the change that we want to see in the world, and allow us to inspire others as we continue forward.
